The Yuma Elks Lodge 476 presented a record 14 scholarships to 13 local students. The scholarships came from past exalted rulers and the Elks National Foundation. Students plan to attend Arizona Western College, University of Arizona, University of Southern California, Yale and Harvard.

Student gov’t reps elected
Arizona Western College recently elected their Student Government Association (SGA) representatives for the 2019-20 school year. SGA is an organized body of students that represents their peers by advocating student concerns, promoting a community atmosphere and improving student life by providing a variety of activities.

Cibola High School student Gladys Herrera was recently accepted into the Cesar E. Chavez Leadership Institute June 2-8 at Arizona State University.
The CCLI seeks to improve access to higher education for Arizona high school sophomores and juniors by providing, at no cost to students, a variety of enriching experiences emphasizing leadership development and civic engagement, while advocating for the completion of high school, attending college and educational opportunities at ASU.
Since 1995, more than 1,300 students have benefited from participating in the program.
