Soldiers and civilian employees at Yuma Proving Ground gathered on base Thursday to celebrate the U.S. Army’s 244th birthday and honor the 75th anniversary of D-Day with several ceremonial events, including a 5K Fun Run. The morning started with opening remarks by Col. Ross Poppenberger. Afterthe run, which began and ended at the YPG Heritage Center, a flag raising ceremony was held. The morning’s events were closed out by the traditional Army cake cutting, which included the youngest and oldest serving members on base.
