A body found on the outskirts of San Luis Rio Colorado, Son., is believed to be that of a former police officer who had been reported missing, according to news media in the border city.
The body was found Tuesday morning with a gunshot wound to the head in a desert area at the end of Dalias Avenue, not far from the highway to El Golfo de Santa Clara, Son., according to Tribuna de San Luis newspaper and the Vizion San Luis news website.
The newspaper and the website quoted unofficial sources as saying the victim is a former officer of the police department in San Luis Rio Colorado reported missing Monday night.
Vizion San Luis identified the victim as 32-year-old Carlos Andres Ibarra Ozuna, while Tribuna identified him only as “Carlos N.,” age 35.
The charred remains of a vehicle believed driven by the former officer at the time of his disappearance was found in a separate location on the city’s outskirts, according to reports in both the newspaper and the website.
The state and federal prosecutors’ offices are investigating the death.
