Jeep rollover

The driver of a Jeep told paramedics that he was headed south on Highway 95  at County 17th Street Thursday, when he fell asleep and veered across the northbound lanes, and into a nearby agricultural field.

After being examined by paramedics from the Somerton/Cocopah Fire Department, the driver of a vehicle involved in a single-vehicle rollover accident Thursday afternoon refused medical treatment and transportation to the hospital.

According to information provided by Fire Chief Paul De Anda, the crash happened at approximately 2:59 p.m. at County 17th Street and South Highway 95.

When firefighters arrived on scene they found a black Jeep SUV upside down in a field and the driver, who was the only occupant of the vehicle, sitting on a field berm.

The driver complained to paramedics of pain to his head and cuts to one of his feet.

He also told paramedics that he was headed south on Highway 95, when he fell asleep and veered across the northbound lanes, and into the field. Marks, on the berms surrounding the field, indicate that he rolled his vehicle multiple times.

The driver stated that he had been wearing his seatbelt at the time and did not lose consciousness.
