Travel-trailer fire

City of Yuma firefighters (left) quickly put out  a trailer fire Thursday evening at a trailer park in the 2000 block of S. Walnut Avenue, preventing it from spreading to other nearby residences.

City of Yuma firefighters worked quickly Thursday evening to prevent a travel-trailer fire from spreading to other nearby homes in the trailer park where it is located.

 According to information provided by department spokesperson Mike Erfert, a fire was reported at approximately 5:45 p.m. in a trailer park in the 2000 block of South Walnut Avenue.

When firefighters arrived on scene at the Walnut Trailer Park they found heavy smoke and fire coming from a travel-trailer parked there.

Firefighters were able to quickly bring the fire under control, but the trailer was severely damaged.

The fire was contained to the original burning trailer with only minor damage to other nearby structures.

There were no injuries and the fire’s cause is believed to have been accidental.
