A man driving a farm tractor on northbound State Route 195 died Tuesday morning after being rear-ended by a pickup truck near County 14th Street, Arizona Department of Public Safety officials said.
Jesus Valera Perez, 54, of San Luis, Ariz., was driving on Route 195 (Araby Road) at milepost 26.8 when the vehicles crashed just before 7 a.m., and died after he lost control of the tractor and it rolled over, DPS spokesman Quentin Mehr said Tuesday afternoon.
The driver of the pickup, 17-year-old Katelyn Guillermo of Yuma, had just changed from the inside to the outside lane before it hit the tractor, Mehr said.
Guillermo was treated and released from a local hospital for her injuries, and the investigation into the crash is ongoing, Mehr said.
Northbound 195 was closed following the collision just before 7 a.m. and reopened before 1 p.m., Mehr said.
Yuma Police Department officers helped with traffic control in the area, police spokesman Joe Franklin said.
