For the second time in five months firefighters from the Rural/Metro Fire Department responded to the Silk Oaks Trailer Park for a report of a motor home fire.

Company spokesperson Charly McMurdie said the fire was reported at approximately 3:30 p.m., with firefighters responding to the location, which is in the 3800 block of West 5th Street.

“When firefighters arrived on scene the mobile home was fully engulfed,” McMurdie said.

While there were other nearby structures McMurdie said the fire was extinguished quickly, which prevented it from spreading.

There were no reports of injuries and it is not known whether the motor home was being lived in. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Deputies from the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office also responded to the scene and conducted traffic control in the area.

At one point deputies had to stop a driver who almost ran over a fire hose after driving around a marked patrol truck and traffic cones that were clearly blocking the road.

Rural/Metro firefighters were at the same location in May for a fire that destroyed one mobile home and caused moderate damage to another. A tree had also caught fire.
