Moving along --

The reconstruction of 1st Avenue continues, with work crews now focused on a closed section between 8th Street and 10th Street (foreground) and 10th Street to 13th Street. Here the asphalt is being removed Thursday from 8th Street to 10th Street. The overall project includes the reconstruction of 1st Street between 16th Street and Orange Avenue, including improvements to underground water/sewer infrastructure, sidewalks and driveways and surface pavement. With local traffic exceptions, stretches of 1st Avenue between 8th Street and 13th Street are closed to through traffic, and 1st Avenue is closed between 9th Street and 10th Street, including the intersection of 1st and Wellington, through mid-October. Local residents will continue to have access on the unimproved surface. The block of 1st Avenue between 10th Street and 11th Street is expected to reopen to traffic this week. 1st Avenue will remain closed between 11th Street and 13th Street. Orange Avenue will be closed on the west side of 1st Avenue, as will the small intersecting portion of 4th Street, through today. Overall, the project is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2019.
