A 40-year-old Yuma man has been arrested on suspicion of luring a minor for sexual exploitation and child sex trafficking.
Yuma Police Department spokesperson Sgt. Lori Franklin announced Tuesday’s arrest, saying detectives from the agency’s Child, Family and Sex Crimes Unit took Shannon Caiazzo into custody at approximately 4:10 p.m.
Franklin added that the victim in this case is a 17-year-old female who was known to Caiazzo, but not related.
Caiazzo allegedly lured the juvenile using drugs and money. The case is currently under investigation.
He made his initial appearance in Yuma Justice Court later the same day before Justice of the Peace Greg Stewart, at which time bond was set at $200,000.
Caiazzo is scheduled to return to Yuma Justice Court at 1 p.m. Friday, when he will be informed whether a criminal complaint has been filed against him, and what, if any, offenses, he is being charged with.
The case is currently under investigation.
