It looks like the circus is finally coming to a close.
Yes, Rob Ford announced he won’t run for re-election for mayor of Toronto.
The crack-smoking, jersey-wearing mayor who found himself in so many compromising situations it made Benny Hill blush, Ford was always a fascinating character to me.
He found himself in the zone where if any story came out about Ford – no matter how absurd – I would have believed it. But what makes him interesting is despite the out-of-the-office scandals he was in, he still had support.
Plenty of people in Toronto felt he did a good job.
So I would ask myself – if my mayor was Charlie Sheen outside of the office but the city was never in better shape under him, would I vote for him? Do the negative things he did (and probably still does) outweigh the results?
