My Greek friend, Dimitri, recently shared photos on Facebook of his journey pedaling his bike through the countryside in Spain.
The fact he was there is cool on its own, but what’s really amazing is the fact that he rode his bicycle to Spain from Yuma! Well, he pedaled there from San Francisco, his last permanent residence. We met in Yuma, via the travel network CouchSurfing.com.
I’m getting used to travelers with big visions. Chris, my first Couchsurfing friend, walked from Los Angeles to Brazil!
I thought Dimitri’s PLAN lacked PLANNING, but he reminded me that the adventure is more important than the destination. His biggest concern was hitching a free ride on a boat across the Atlantic.
To Dimitri, the most important thing is making new friends, then eating, drinking, and dancing with them. And he’s right.
So the journey continues, merrily pedaling toward the city of his birth - Athens, Greece.
