Cibola junior Ayden Dusek turned in the highest state finish by a Raiders boys swimmer in eight years Friday on day two of the Arizona Interscholastic Association State Championships, placing fifth in the Division I boys 100 back at Kino Aquatic Center in Mesa.
Dusek, who clocked a time of 53.01, was one of three locals to compete individually Friday.
Cibola sophomore Emma Amon turned in a pair of top-10 finishes, placing seventh in the Division I girls 100 breast (1:07.53) and ninth in the 200 IM (2:11.53).
Gila Ridge senior Devon Wheeler, meanwhile, came in eighth in the Division II boys 100 fly (54.34) and 12th in the 200 free (1:50.05).
Four local relays also competed Friday.
For Cibola, the boys 200 medley relay took 11th (1:43.42) and the girls 200 medley relay took 14th (1:56.84).
For Gila Ridge, the boys 400 free relay took 11th (3:27.46) and the boys 200 free relay took 13th (1:34.65).
Cibola finished 17th in the Division I boys team rankings with 32 points, and 18th in the girls rankings with 27 points. Team scores for Division II were not available.
